Kings Of Leon Debut 'Sex On Fire' at All Points West

Posted August 12 2008 02:12 PM

Kings Of Leon debuted the lead single from their forthcoming album ‘Only By The Night’, during their slot at All Points West on Saturday (August 9).
Opening with recent free-download ‘Crawl’, the Tennessee quartet made their way through a lengthy and varied set, comprising of material from their back catalogue with just a handful of new tracks thrown in.
Referring to the festival’s five-drink-per-person rule frontman Caleb Followill said:
“I heard they're not letting you guys get too drunk out there. Well they didn't say anything to me, so I'm gonna have a drink. This is the first time we've ever played this song,” before launching into ‘Sex On Fire’.
In what was possibly a reference to the generally lack luster audience, Followill asked the crowd:
“Are y'll havin a good time out there? They tell me we're in Jersey but you guys seem like a bunch of New Yorkers.”
The band went seamlessly from song to song in chunks, which included ‘McFearless’, ‘Fans’ and ‘Knocked Up’ from last year’s ‘Because Of the Times’, Followill expressed his excitement at playing right before headliners Radiohead.
“I just want to say what an honour it is to be home and playing back in America” Caleb commented “but also what an honour it is to be playing before Radiohead,” prompting the biggest cheer of the set.
As previously reported, Kings Of Leon have scheduled a North American tour with We Are Scientists this fall. The band are also set to play an intimate show at New York’s Webster Hall on September 23 to celebrate the release of their fourth album ‘Only By The Night’, released that day.
