Death Row Records Sold for £12 Million

Posted July 16 2008 01:22 PM

Death Row Records – the hip-hop record label that released albums by artists including  and Snoop Dogg – has been sold to a New York-based firm for $24 million (£12 million).
Global Music Group bought the label at auction, reports Associated Press, acquiring the label's entire back catalogue and reportedly the rights to unreleased material by Shakur.
The acquisition could pave the way for previously-unheard material by the late rapper to be released.
The label, previously owned by Suge Knight, released pioneering hip-hop albums, including 'The Chronic' by Dr. Dre and 'The Doggfather' by Snoop Dogg.
