On March
3rd 2008, Fightstar will be releasing what some are calling their 'most
important song to date'. 'Floods' will be available on CD, digital and 7' vinyl
with each format containing exclusive tracks records especially for the
release.
The band have been working hard over the festive period and, as well as
rehearsing for their forthcoming tour have recorded two Radio One sessions; the
Radio 1 Rock Show which will air on Feb 18th and the Colin Murray Radio 1
session which is a special all band acoustic session which will air on Jan
28th.
The single is supported by a brand new video which includes stunning CGI
animated footage from the $30 million feature film, 'Flood', courtesy of the
European producer and distributor Power, which made the movie. (www.flood-london.com)
Flood is written by Power founder Justin Bodle and Matthew Cope and is based on
the book of the same name by Richard Doyle. Directed by Tony Mitchell, it stars
Robert Carlyle, Jessalyn Gilsig, Tom Courtenay, Joanne Whalley and David
Suchet. Flood, has already received a limited UK theatrical release, and makes it
UK TV premiere as a two part mini series in March.
The band wrote the song after seeing 'Al Gore’s 'An Inconvenient Truth'. Charlie
Simpson said, 'like most people I was blissfully unaware of how bad things had
become, and I realized that we should all be facing responsibility for the way
we behave. It really inspired the whole record, how we treat our planet and our
society now, is going to have repercussions in 50 years time'
With the news headlines dominated by unseasonal floods - and with much of the
country continuing to struggle under water - the question is how would the
Capital cope if such a catastrophe struck? Real-life flooding has seen
thousands of people face serious problems over the last few weeks. To find out
the facts behind the fiction on flooding in your area, sign up to Floodline on

Fightstar are just setting out on the Kerrang Relentless Energy Drink tour 2008
– kicking off in Belfast on January 23rd, winding up at London’s Brixton
Academy on February 8th.
