Bjork Attacks Paparazzi

Posted January 15 2008 11:17 AM

Icelandic pop star Bjork has been accused of assaulting a photographer shortly after arriving in New Zealand.
The quirky singer allegedly tore the shirt off the back of a paparazzi who tried to take her picture at Auckland International Airport on Sunday morning.
Glenn Jeffrey, an employee of the New Zealand Herald newspaper, was shocked by the 42-year-old's violent outburst.
He says, "I took a couple of pictures... and as I turned and walked away, she came up behind me, grabbed the back of my black skivvy (long t-shirt) and tore it down the back.
"As she did this she fell to the ground. At no stage did I touch her or speak with her."
The incident was reported to police who are now believed to be looking into CCTV footage from the airport.
The photographer has expressed concerns over celebrities who believe they are above the law, adding, "If anybody assaults anybody you have the right to a legal recourse, whoever they are.
"I don't see being assaulted as I'm working as a press photographer as an acceptable thing."
This isn't the first time Bjork has been in trouble for scuffles with the paparazzi. The star famously attacked a reporter in Thailand in 1996 but later apologised for the incident and no charges were brought.
