Timbaland takes another No. 1 in U.K.

Posted April 17 2007 12:54 PM

The U.K. singles chart had a new champion Sunday (April 15) as "Give It to Me" (Interscope) by Timbaland featuring Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake climbed to the top from No. 8. The cut is also No. 1 this week on the Billboard Hot 100. Kings Of Leon`s 'Because of the Times' (Hand Me Down/Sony BMG) started a second week atop the album chart.

Timbaland`s track from the album 'Shock Value,' which stayed at No. 10 on the album survey, was pursued by "Stop Me" (Columbia) by Mark Ronson featuring Daniel Merriweather, which rose from No. 6. Another Columbia release, "Beautiful Liar" by Beyonce and Shakira, moved up from No. 10 to No. 5, while the highest new entry was Fall Out Boy`s curiously spelled "Thnks For Th Mmrs" (Mercury) at No. 12.

Linkin Park`s "What I`ve Done" (Warner Bros.) made a healthy 39-13 climb but was bettered by Bloc Party`s "I Still Remember" (Wichita), the second single from the band`s 'A Weekend in the City,' which jumped 74-20. Nine Inch Nails returned with 'Survivalism' (Interscope) at No. 29.

Kings Of Leon`s second week at the album peak kept them ahead of the remarkably successful 'Every Time We Touch' by Anglo-German dance trio Cascada, which rose 4-2 in its sixth chart week. It`s the bestselling individual artist album ever for north of England dance indie (and club compilation specialist) All Around the World.

Several long-runners made album chart rebounds, including Nelly Furtado`s 'Loose' (Mosley/Geffen) 8-4, Amy Winehouse`s 'Back To Black' (Universal Island) 9-6, Justin Timberlake`s 'FutureSex/LoveSounds' (Jive) 13-7 and Mika`s 'Life in Cartoon Motion' (Casablanca/Island) 12-8. Bright Eyes debuted at No. 13 with 'Cassadaga' (Polydor) and Ciara`s 'The Evolution' (LaFace) opened at No. 17.

'Loose' (Mosley/Geffen) wass in a fifth consecutive week at No. 1, and seventh overall, on Billboard`s European Top 100 Albums chart, while Avril Lavigne claimed the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles crown as 'Girlfriend' (Arista/RCA) jumped 10-1.
