UK tour dates with Snoop and Diddy canceled due to visa issues

Posted March 28 2007 05:58 PM

Rap/hip-hop icons Snoop Dogg and P.Diddy have announced they will cancel the British tour dates of their current European tour due to Snoop visa problems. British authorities refused to grant the rapper a visa to enter the country to perform a series of concerts scheduled with Diddy.

The two rappers were said to be "incredibly disappointed and devastated" with the news that they would be forced to cancel concerts in London, Cardiff, Manchester, Nottingham and Glasgow, according to a statement from the record label.

The statement placed the blame on the Snoop’s visa issues: "With late notice of Snoop being denied a visa, time has run out and it is too late to reconfigure the show. They really did not want to let fans down this way as the UK was a planned highlight of the tour. However, this ultimately was a situation out of their control.”

Britain’s Home Office has yet to comment on why Snoop Dogg was not allowed in the country, but has stated it has the right to deny visas if the person is considered "not be conducive to the public good."

Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus and who is a former Los Angeles gang member, had legal trouble in Britain last year. In April 2006, Snoop Dogg and five of his posse were arrested at the British Airways’ first class lounge at Heathrow Airport and charged with violent disorder and starting a brawl. The group spent the night in jail. The fight was believed to have happened after some of the group was denied access to the lounge.

Fans that had already purchased tickets to see the show will be granted refunds. Snoop and Diddy are next scheduled to take the stage in Dublin on Saturday.
