Snoop Dogg denied visa by British authorities

Posted March 26 2007 01:59 PM

It looks like British fans of rapper Snoop Dogg won’t be able to catch him on stage any time soon thanks to British authorities denying a visa for him to come to the country, according to the rapper’s tour publicists. Currently on a European tour with fellow rap icon P. Diddy, Snoop Dogg (who was barred from entering Britain in May, 2006) was expected to have five shows in Britain.

Spokeswoman Celena Aponte said in a statement: "Snoop and his team are mystified at the decision and are hoping that the British government will reconsider this decision. He has asked how he can help rectify the situation and would happily talk to and give assurances to the officials."

The scheduled concert at London's Wembley Arena on Tuesday is still happening. At this time, the show will be without Snoop Dogg (whose real name is Calvin Broadus), but will feature P Diddy and the rest of the tour line-up.

There has been no specific reason given for why Snoop Dogg was denied a visa into the country, but a spokeswoman for the Home Office stated foreign citizens can be denied visas due to concerns about their presence.

In April 2006, Snoop Dogg and five of his posse were arrested at the British Airways’ first class lounge at Heathrow Airport and charged with violent disorder and starting a brawl. The group spent the night in jail. The fight was believed to have happened after some of the group was denied access to the lounge.
