Britney Spears Leaves Rehab

Posted March 22 2007 07:14 PM

Britney Spears recently checked out of the Promises Malibu Alcohol and Drug Rehab Treatment Facility in Southern California after "successfully completing their program," according to a statement from the singer's manager, Larry Rudolph, released late Tuesday by her label, Jive Records. "We ask that the media respects her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time," Rudolph added, according to The Associated Press.

After checking in on February 22 following a string of high-profile public acts that drew worldwide attention — including shaving her head, beating a car with an umbrella, being repeatedly photographed while partying without underwear and reportedly shaving her legs in the bathroom of a Hollywood hotel's pool house — Spears left the facility following the minimum 30-day stay.

While estranged husband Kevin Federline reportedly visited Spears during her stay to offer support — bringing along the couple's young sons, Jayden James, 6 months, and Sean Preston, 18 months — he is scheduled to celebrate his 29th birthday on Wednesday (March 21) with a party at the West Hollywood nightclub Eleven and a second bash at the Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas on Saturday, according to his publicist.

It was never specified why Spears sought treatment at the plush, oceanfront Promises, which offers detox, counseling and 12-step programs for $48,000 per 30-day stay, according to AP. Despite its lush location and high price tag, Promises is known for its tough-love philosophy, which requires patients to perform everyday chores as part of their rehabilitation.

The minimum stay for most rehab facilities is 30 days, though Reuters reported that Promises founder Richard Rogg has said the usual stay at Promises is about 45 days. Country singer Keith Urban recently spent three months at the Betty Ford Center for treatment for alcohol abuse.

A spokesperson for Spears could not be reached for comment at press time.
