Fergie gets her second No. 1 with 'Glamorous'

Posted March 17 2007 12:14 PM

Fergie earned her second No. 1 on The Billboard Hot 100 with the No. 8 to No. 1 surge of "Glamorous" featuring Ludacris. Moving 166,000 digital downloads, the track was this week`s biggest digital sales gainer and No. 1 on the Hot Digital Songs tally for the first time. In its nine week history on the Hot 100, "Glamorous" has fallen in and out of the top tier due to its availability online. Fergie`s first single, last year`s "London Bridge," was her first No. 1 on the chart.

Fergie`s hit displaced Mims` "This Is Why I`m Hot" to No. 2 on the big chart after a two-week reign. Though it fell 2-3, Akon`s "Don`t Matter" was this week`s greatest airplay gainer for a third week straight. Akon can also be heard on Gwen Stefani`s "The Sweet Escape," as it similarly slipped 3-4.

Patrick Stump can be heard on the Nos. 5 and 6 this week, as he was featured on Gym Class Heroes` "Cupid`s Chokehold" (7-5) and in his own band Fall Out Boy, whose "This Ain`t a Scene, It`s an Arms Race" held tight at No. 6 for a second week. Daughtry`s "It`s Not Over" re-entered the top 10, sliding up 11-7.

"What Goes Around... Comes Around" by Justin Timberlake descended 4-8 while Avril Lavigne`s "Girlfriend" dipped 5-9. Former chart-topper "Say It Right" from Nelly Furtado kept the No. 10 spot warm for a second week.

Billy Currington`s "Good Directions" was this week`s biggest debut, bowing at No. 91. Another country star, young Taylor Swift, entered at No. 93 with "Teardrops on My Guitar." Her self-titled debut album also resided in the Top 30 of The Billboard 200 for a second week straight. Tank`s "Please Don`t Go" at No. 95 was also new to the Hot 100. A handful of re-entries impacted the chart this week, like the Fratellis` return with "Flathead" at No. 74. The group`s album 'Costello Music' bowed on Tuesday (March 13).

On the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, Robin Thicke`s "Lost Without U" reigned for a fifth week while Conjunto Primavera`s "Ese" ruled Hot Latin Songs for a second. Kenny Chesney`s "Beer in Mexico" rose 2-1 on Hot Country Songs (his 11th No. 1 on that chart), moving Tim McGraw`s hit "Last Dollar (Fly Away)" to No. 2.

After 13 weeks at No. 1, Three Days Grace`s "Pain" fell to Breaking Benjamin`s "Breath" on Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks, as the latter rose 3-1. "Pain" continued to sit at the summit on Hot Modern Rock Tracks for a fourth week.
