Elton John plans 60th birthday bashPosted January 17 2007 12:36 AM
Elton John will mark his 60th birthday in March with a one-night engagement at New York's Madison Square Garden, where he'll be backed on select songs by a full choir.
The show--which coincidentally will be the performer's 60th performance at the venerable Manhattan arena--will take place March 25, with John's usual band (Davey Johnstone on guitar, Guy Babylon on keyboards, Bob Birch on bass guitar, John Mahon on percussion and Nigel Olsson on drums) backing him up. Members of John's online fan club will have access to "a larger than usual allocation" of tickets to the event, according to John's website, where tickets will begin going on sale Jan. 19. In addition to the birthday event, John has also announced another set of dates for his ongoing Las Vegas residency at Caesar's Palace. John's production, "The Red Piano," is set to run at The Colosseum at Caesar's through 2008. The latest set of "Red Piano" dates cover 14 additional shows over March, April and May. "The Red Piano" was created by John with photographer David LaChapelle to spotlight the songs of John and his longtime writing partner Bernie Taupin. Last year, John signed an agreement that will keep the show running through 2008, according to Caesars. Taken from liveDaily Keywords :
