Dandy Warhols Head to the Vaults

Posted June 30 2006 12:59 PM

AOL Music caught up with guitarist Peter Holmstrom on his way to the Portland band's Odditorium studio, where they've been digging in the Dandy vaults. "There's a bunch of old ideas that have been floating around that we're going, 'Well this was cool at one point. Let's make it cool again,'" Holmstrom says.

One number dates back more than 12 years. "It's one of the first Dandy Warhols songs ever," he says. "We rehearsed it for the first show, [which] didn't go very well. So it didn't get played, and it never got played again. We rehashed it, and it's a great song."

Other cuts expected to make the self-produced effort include 'Feast of Saints,' which features a Cream-esque guitar line, and the already recorded "Have a Kick-Ass Summer," which Holmstrom says, "might be the fastest song we've ever written."
