The Gorillaz have shared the stage with Madonna. Will the world's most popular animated band now team up with another '80s icon? The Gorillaz and Prince won Webby Awards, it was announced today, and both the cartoon band and the Purple One are expected to be on hand June 12 for the awards ceremony in New York City. The Gorillaz garnered Artist of the Year, while Prince's NPG Music Club won for best fan site. MySpace, the social-networking site that has become a vital component of music marketing and promotion, won Breakout of the Year. "The winners of the 10th Annual Webby Awards reflect the Web's incredible diversity and the vital role it plays in all aspects of our daily lives," Webby founder Tiffany Shlain said in a statement.
