Zap Mama is a Belgian musical group headed by Marie Daulne. They sing in French and English with deep African roots. Marie Daulne is the globally-respected visionary behind Zap Mama, one of the most popular Afro-European/World Music ensembles on the planet. Over the past decade, Marie has crossed continents winning the hearts of thousands of fans, while introducing her musical heritage to the world and uniting musical cultures through the wonders of voice, music, and dynamic performance.

Born in Zaire and raised in Belgium, Marie founded Zap Mama in 1990, and has since released five full-length albums (Adventures in Afropea, Sabsylma, Seven, A Ma Zone, Ancestry in Progress). Zap Mama received a Grammy nomination for Adventures in Afropea, and two of her albums (Adventures in Afropea, Ancestry in Progress) have reached the #1 spot on the Billboard World Music Album chart. Furthermore, Zap Mama’s songs have been featured in numerous films and television shows including So You Think You Can Dance?, the Mission Impossible II soundtrack and the Wired CD.

Marie has toured the globe in support of her music, including legendary performances at the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Coachella Festival, Austin City Limits Festival, the Blue Note Festival in Tokyo, and the WOMAD festivals. Marie is also very active as a humanitarian, and has devoted much of her time working to protect human rights and fight global poverty with organizations such as Amnesty International, Médecins Sans Frontières, CARE, and the United Nations.
