The beginnings of the SIDEWINDER
sound were fuelled by a soundtrack of deep beats, dub reggae, jazz and
techno whilst I was studying at Glasgow School of Art, a decade ago.
Having experimented with borrowed 4 track tape recorders, drum machines
and FX boxes at school, the next step was to blow a student loan on an
AKAI sampler and start to piece together some charity shop, jazz
influenced, cut and paste tracks. A string of singles for Glasgows
fledgling Fenetik Music
followed, including the massive jazz-dance track Stanway's Revenge
which was championed by DJs like Kruder and Dorfmeister, Jazzanova and
