Grohl worried about hits album

Posted November 5 2009 11:59 AM

DAVE GROHL has admitted that he is worried that the release of the Foo Fighters' Greatest Hits album could be seen as "premature".

The band's frontman said they had been putting off releasing a "best of" album for a long time, despite having a long standing obligation with their record company to do so.

Speaking to Radio 1's Chris Moyles, Grohl said: "It still seems premature because we're still a functioning, active band. Those things can look like an obituary.

"We were asked to do this a long time ago. We wrote it into a deal a long time ago - that's how it works.

"They started asking about four years ago, and we said, 'Don't we need some hits?'"

The 16-track LP, which was released on Monday, features hits from their six albums to date.

Grohl added: "It's like a CliffsNotes version of what we've been doing for the last 15 years. I think there are better songs than some of those."

The band are set to perform at this year's MTV EMA Awards in Berlin tomorrow night where they're nominated in the best rock category.
