She always enjoyed singing, having started at the age of 8, but her parents always wanted her to focus on her studies.

Music artist that inspired her are Stevie Nicks, Sade, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, U2, Led Zeppellin, Carole King, Carly Simon and The Beatles.

Whilst she was working at the New York offices of Versace, she one day decided to persue singing, and she left to work as a bartender for a few months. A woman colleague from the Versace office knew of a producer who was looking for a girl to do a demo for him. She introduced Nadia to the producer, Markus Moser and iiO was formed.

The name of the band comes from the name of the laptop onto which Nadia wrote her lyrics on, the Sony Vaio. She suggested adding an extra "i" to Vaio but the "Va" was later dropped to prevent any problems with Sony.
