Kwasi Gyasi, artist name KAYE STYLES, was born in
Ghana on 8th of November 1981. At the age of 5 KAYE immigrated with his parents to
Belgium . At very young age KAYE showed his interest in sports and of
course music. While growing up he developed his talents in basketball,
skateboarding and numerous of skills. Meanwhile KAYE was still
listening carefully but not yet practicing music…that all changed
quick.
After finishing high
school he started to practice music in different forms. Rapping and
singing amongst friends, mc’ing at clubs. After performing at a
friend’s party (now his dedicated manager) and cheered by hundreds of
people he felt this was a breaking point in his career. KAYE STYLES’
skills were ready to be shown to the world.
At the age of 22 he did
his first major performance as a feature on a single of a well known
artist. Only 3 months later he signed his first record deal at MOSTIKO
(CNR records). He signed a 4 album deal! Singer, songwriter… KAYE STYLES has the works!
KAYE is promoted in an
American way which results in working together with producer BC –
KRAZEE ALLEY and the recording of his ever first video clip in LOS
ANGELES with producer MICHAEL ROONY (4 time MTV award winner). His
first single “GIMME THE MIC” had massive airplay in the
Benelux and hung around in the TOP 50 chats for about 10 weeks.
After going to Los
Angeles in the summer of 2004 for the video of "Gimme The Mic", it was
Bratislava Slovakia that welcomed the whole KAYE STYLES Team to
shoot the video of "SAFE SEX", the second single that Kaye Styles
released. Later that year KAYE also finished his debut album "TRUE
DEFINITION OF STYLES", a 12 track album that shows you that this young
man has the talent and the works to be one of the biggest European
urban superstars .
To give the world the
chance to get to know KAYE STYLES, MOSTIKO Records released the promo
single "WATCHING ME" in November 2004. This song became a big club
banger around the globe. Every club dj played the Rockwell adaptation
until the break of dawn! It gave KAYE STYLES the chance to go on
tour and explore
Europe . In the meantime KAYE STYLES also
found time to feature on a song of an other great R&B artist called
ALI TCHEELAB. This track is "MARIA BONITA" and there was a big hype in
Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and off course
Belgium . This video was shot in
Miami amongst the biggest stars off the world. So now KAYE STYLES’ name
has grown to full potential and its time to give the world "TRUE
DEFINITION OF STYLES" and lots of "SAFE SEX"!!
Eurosong 2006 was THE
big breakthrough for KAYE. His participation in the preselections for
the Eurovision Songfestival made him the big hype. The show had a
weekly audience over 1,8 million viewers! KAYE
got excellent comments on his song ‘PROFILE’ and his performance from
not only the jury members, but the audience loved it too and sent KAYE
to the finals. ‘PROFILE’ became a big hit and staid for 3 weeks in the
top 3 of the Ultratop! The single got as support a cool and original
video, which was shot at L.A., and was filmed by
Hollywood veterans and directed by Senol Korkmaz, 2 times TMF (MTV) nominee. Results of this new chapter in KAYE’s career? Negotiations with record companies worldwide!
Now the world is
eagerly waiting for the release of his new album “IT IZ WHAT IT IZ”.
This album not only contains the hits ‘PROFILE’, ‘MARIA BONITA’ and
‘SAFE SEX’, but also some brand new tracks and a couple of remixed
songs. To top it off for the fans, a DVD with all the state of the art
clips, exclusive home videos and cool Making Offs are included!
