Jonathan Kovacs (more famous under the name J-five) is a californian singer and songwriter born in 1983 in Hollywood. J-Five is the eldest of four children, all born in Los Angeles. During his childhood, his father who is from France and his mother who is from Austria made him discover the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones that they appreciate a lot.

As he got older, he discovered different bands like A Tribe Called Quest, Nas and the Wu Tang Clan that will influence his music.

He went to North Hollywood High, where he was often absent. His current band is Dusty white. His music is a mixture of rock, grunge and rap.

He chosed his pseudo "J-Five" when he begun to participate to rap battles. It is a short cut for Johnny 5, the name of the little robot in his favorite movie "Short Circuit".

J-Five begun his solo career in 2004 with the first single «Modern Times». In this song, he pays tribute to Charlie Chaplin.

A music video was realised to illustrate this track, playing the review of the movie «Modern Times» in New York in 1936, with the exclusive participation of Dolores Chaplin, the grand-daughter of the famous actor.

In November 2004, J-Five released his album «Sweet Little Nothing», a mixture of rock, rap, funk, jazz and folk tones. A song “Find a Way”, which was released as a single in Europe, became a massive airplay hit in Russia in 2005.

In March 2007, Johnny five will release his album «From Hell with Love». After that, Jonathan Kovacs will purchase his career with his band, the Dusty White. They will release an album soon.
