Travis Barker Back On The Drums

Posted November 19 2008 12:51 PM

Travis Barker is back in the studio playing the drums again just two months after suffering horrific burns in a plane crash.
The former Blink 182 drummer spoke of his happiness at being able to play again as he appeared on MTV show TRL through a live satellite link-up from his Los Angeles studio.
The 33-year old said he was relieved he was able to sit at his drum kit and play after the accident in September which killed four people and left him badly burned from the waist down.
He said: "I feel better every day. I'm already playing my drums again and already back in the studio. "It was like riding a bike. It was really exciting. I still have my chops. "I still feel good. I could still get around the kit. Everything felt right. I'm thankful to be able to play."
"Thanks for all the support, I feel better every day."
Last week, Barker's +44 bandmate and former Blink-182 partner Mark Hoppus said he expects Barker to fully recover and return to music soon.
Speaking to MTV News, he said: "He can't not drum, you know? The man was born to sit behind a drum kit and do his thing "He's healing incredibly well. He's healing very quickly. The doctors are saying that his body is really healing in a positive way. ... No matter what I work on, Travis will be part of, for sure."
Travis and his friend DJ AM were the only two survivors of the crash, which happened after the pair had played a charity gig in South Carolina. He left hospital nine days after he was admitted with third degree burns. His assistant and bodyguard died in the crash, along with the plane's pilot and co-pilot.
