Prince Being Sued By Perfume Company

Posted November 19 2008 12:55 PM

Prince is facing legal action from a perfume company who claim he failed to honour a contract with them.
The 50-year-old singer and his music publisher Universal are being sued for $100,000 by Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics who claim the musician did not help promote two 3121 fragrances - named after his 2006 album. In a lawsuit filed at New York's Supreme Court, Revelations said it signed a deal with Universal that would see them receive 50 per cent of the profits of the perfume's sales in exchange for the star to appear in promotional campaigns for the scent. It said: "Since July 2007, despite repeated attempts by Revelations there have been virtually no communications from anyone who could commit to or coordinate any promotional efforts by Prince."
Revelations said it spent $2.5m on the product and agreed to pay Universal half of profits made from sales of the perfume. The company also claim that Universal and Prince have not participated in promotions since the fragrance was launched last year. But Universal refuses to accept the claims, and in a statement, company spokesman Peter LoFrumento said the breach-of-contract accusations "completely without merit".
This is the second legal battle Prince has faced this month - he was ordered to pay $58,000 for using the services of a video editor after he was sued by the technician for unpaid wages.
